One of my favourite aspects of being a wedding photographer is the opportunity to get to know my clients and learn their unique stories. Recently, I had the pleasure of capturing a beautiful engagement session in Golden Ears Park in Maple Ridge, BC. It reminded me just how amazing it is when two people come together at the perfect time.
In 2022 Faith decided to move from BC to Alberta for school. She happened to sit beside a woman who chatted with her and offered to give her number to her son’s girlfriend Courtney, who would be playing basketball at the college. Faith not knowing anyone figured, why not!
Well, this happened to be Keagen’s Aunt who went home and told him all about Faith, the girl she met on the plane. Once Keagen did some Instagram stalking, he couldn’t resist texting Faith to see if she was interested in meeting. Faith replied to the text and they started conversation. The whole time Faith thought this was the son’s girlfriend Courtney, since she didn’t remember her name.
They decided to meet for coffee the next day and Faith was waiting at Tim Horton’s for a female basketball player to show up. Instead she heard “are you Faith?”, when she looked up it was a 6’5″ guy staring down on her. She tried to hide her shock and played it off like she knew she was meeting up with him. They ended up going on a 2+ hour walk together, despite her initial surprise, and have been inseparable ever since.
After getting engaged on their one year anniversary, and jumping into wedding planning, I was so grateful I got to capture these memories for them. When Faith said they’d be coming to BC for their engagement photo’s, I knew Golden Ears was the perfect backdrop to show off the beautiful views we have in BC. When we showed up to our location, the fog had covered all the mountains. There sadly wasn’t the view we were expecting. As we started shooting, the fog started to clear, and we were lucky enough to get the beautiful views we were hoping for!
